DFSK was founded in June 2003 as a 50-50 joint venture between Seres Group (formerly Chongqing Sokon Industry Group) and Dongfeng Motor Group, pioneering the "private enterprise + central SOE" cross-sector cooperation model in China's auto industry.
Its core products include mini buses, mini trucks, and urban multi-purpose commercial vehicles, with the "Dongfeng Fengguang" passenger vehicle brand under its umbrella, forming a development pattern of "passenger + commercial vehicles" and "traditional + new energy vehicles". It ranked among China's top three mini-vehicle enterprises in 2009, with cumulative production and sales exceeding 1 million units by 2012.
